Anilox Roller Industry knowledge

At Changzhou Wujin Guangyu Embossing Roller Machinery Co., Ltd., the anilox roller program is built on 40 years of precision forming manufacturing. We are an Anilox Roller manufacturer and a China Anilox Roller Factory serving flexographic printing, gravure coating, packaging and new energy material lines.

The roller's job is metered transfer of fluids - inks, adhesives, resins, coatings and functional coatings. Depending on the line, we configure the engraving pattern, cell volume, roller material and surface finish to hold the coating weight you need while resisting wear and blade contact.

Anilox Roller Range and Application Fit

We supply four anilox roller variants. Each addresses a different combination of abrasion, chemical exposure, engraving resolution and cost.

Variant Surface and Engraving Typical Fit
Metal Anilox Roller Laser or electronic engraving with hard chrome finish Flexo and gravure lines requiring reproducible cell volume and easy cleaning
Hard Alloy Steel Anilox Roller Heat-treated hard alloy steel surface Abrasive inks and long-run printing where surface durability matters
Ceramic Anilox Roller Engraved ceramic coating Coating, laminating and chemically aggressive fluids with extended service life
Ultra-Fine Anilox Roller Ultra-fine laser-engraved cells High-resolution flexo, thin film coatings and fine metering applications

Which variant is right depends on the press or coating station, not only the pattern. We match the roller body and engraved layer to the chemicals, doctor blade pressure and substrate being run.

Process and Material Considerations

Selection starts at the working point: line speed, web width, blade geometry, fluid viscosity and required dry coating weight. These parameters set the screen count, cell volume and engraving angle.

  • Flexographic printing - controlled ink laydown with stable cell release across the anilox face.
  • Gravure and coating stations - low-volume cells for thin adhesive and resin coatings.
  • Packaging printing - repeatable coating weight from roll to roll and over long runs.
  • New energy materials - functional coatings on films, separators and battery-related substrates.

Closed-Loop Manufacturing and Custom Engineering

Our anilox rollers are manufactured on a complete in-house line covering roller blank precision machining, CNC grinding, laser engraving, high-precision polishing and hard chrome electroplating. The engraving floor includes German-imported multi-beam direct laser engraving machines and automated electroplating lines.

For custom work, we use computerized plate-making, color separation and laser phototypesetting systems to reproduce customer patterns and tailor roller diameter, face width and journal configuration. This supports production line retrofits, new product prototyping and volume manufacturing with consistent engraving quality.

Quality, Certification and Acceptance

Quality control runs through the entire process rather than a single final inspection. Our roller production operates under ISO 9001 quality management certification, and products meet EU RoHS compliance requirements.

  • Incoming roller blank verification and finish machining checks.
  • Laser engraving inspection for cell depth, cell opening and uniformity.
  • Hard chrome thickness and surface finish verification.
  • Final dimensional inspection of diameter, taper and runout before packing.

With end-to-end technical liaison and comprehensive after-sales maintenance support, we keep overseas partners coordinated from drawing review through roll service.

Line Integration and Configuration

Anilox rollers are supplied as direct replacements for existing presses or as part of a complete machine package. Tell us the machine builder, model, journal dimensions, bearing positions and available face width, and we will machine the roller to fit your line.

If your project involves a wider roller system, we also manufacture Industrial Rollers including embossing, calendering, precision, mirror and guide rollers, and can coordinate the anilox roll with adjacent processing equipment. Our rollers and machinery are exported to more than 50 countries and regions.

Information We Use to Configure Your Solution

A precise proposal comes from the actual line condition, not a generic catalog selection. When you contact us, include as many of the following as possible:

  • Fluid type, viscosity and target coating weight
  • Line speed, web width and nip arrangement
  • Required screen count, cell volume and engraving angle, if specified
  • Roller material preference - metal, hard alloy steel, ceramic or ultra-fine
  • Existing roller drawing, dimensions or a sample for reverse engineering
  • Order quantity, delivery schedule and packaging requirements

Frequently Asked Questions

What do you need from us to quote an anilox roller?
We need the press or coating machine model, working face width, journal dimensions, fluid type and target coating weight. If the existing roller is available, its screen count, cell volume and engraving angle help us finalize the quotation faster.

Can you reproduce an existing engraving pattern on a new roller?
Yes. Our computerized plate-making, color separation and laser phototypesetting systems are used to reproduce customer patterns. Send the old roller, a drawing or a detailed cell specification.

How do ceramic and hard alloy steel anilox rollers compare?
Ceramic rollers resist chemical attack and abrasion well and are common in coating and laminating applications. Hard alloy steel and hard chrome finished metal rollers provide predictable engraving quality for printing inks and are easier to handle in routine cleaning. The right choice depends on blade pressure, solvent system and run length.

Do you support roller retrofits and complete machine packages?
Yes. We provide custom roller solutions and integrated complete-equipment packages. We can replace a failed anilox roll on an existing line or supply the roller as part of new material processing equipment.

What export documentation do you provide with the roller?
We prepare the roller for safe shipment and provide technical liaison during the order. Dimensional details, engraving parameters and packing arrangements are confirmed with the customer before dispatch.
